Our 1st lunch in Wudang.
Early in the morning we meet at the main gate and get into the bus and begin our trip to Wudang Mountain. The bus departs from WUST at 7.30am, we take a 6 hours ride to reach the town at the bottom of Wudang Mountain, and we have our lunch in one of the hotel. Something really shock us was the toilet again, China’s wash room will always amaze us. The guys’ mention their toilet is flood with water (including urine); OMG! And the “Chocolate cake” is there in the bowl but is not flushed. The surprise thing was there is no awful smell in the toilet! We cant imagine how they manage their ventilation system…
After lunch, our Wudang visit started.1st stop we went “Prince Slope” – Tai Zi Po. We take the tour bus provided by the Wudang tourism; the route to our destination is full of turns and is a slow kind roller coaster. We need to have a 20 minutes ride to reach there. The building there is build with red walls and green roof; this is considered the specialty of Wudang. Red means ‘fire’ and green means ‘water’; while wudang is also named as ‘Tai He’ Mt. which shows their mean as wanted to harmonize fire & water. On our way up to ‘Tai Zhi Po’ I saw a lot of locals tried to convince us to buy red ribbons, initially I cant think of what does the ribbon used for until I saw trees full with ribbon and they have stones tied at the both ends. Now only I understand the ribbon is for making wishes, throw your ribbon as high as you can so that your wishes may come true, this is what most of the locals believe in. At ‘Tai Zi Po’ we so lucky that we can see the Tai Ci master show us how Wudang Tai Ci, this was my 1st time see martial arts with my own eye but not in the action movie. Tai Ci is created by Master ‘Zhang San Feng’ and Tai Ci is titled to be Soft to stop the Hard wants.
After ‘Tai Zi Po’ we headed to “Purple Temple” – Zi Qiao Gong, we take another 20 minutes to reach our next destination. Its one out of 72 temples in Wudang Mountain, this was the place where the God – Xuan Wu is placed. The people will go there for praying on 1st and 15th of every lunar month. When we were there it’s crowded with prayers. I saw a group of learner practicing their Kung Fu at the floor in front of the temple; they’ve made me think of posting some martial arts steps… When I started to post and took pictures, I realize everyone in EE group is pirated my idea!
Next stop we went ‘Nan Yan’, this was the last stop and the most tedious stop for the day. We climb all the way up to the top but Liying, Shanmei and I refuse to go in to the temple because we already exhausted after hiking such a long route. After trying this tedious climbing I doubt the next day hiking plan may not be successful. After ‘Nan Yan’ we take the last bus down the mountain and went back to the same hotel as this afternoon for dinner. Finish dinner we were brought to a hotel which considered as the best in the town – Wudang Hotel. It didn’t disappoint me because they have nice bed & nice bathroom with heater in a nice room. I wish I can stay longer in the room and unfortunately we can only enjoy the luxury for just few hours.
After everyone had settled down in their own rooms, we have a small conference in Ian’s room; it’s about tomorrow hiking plans. Initially, we were asking to take cable car to the top of the mountain instead of hiking. In the split seconds everyone of us are in the bad mood because we were here to hike and not to take cable car, so we discuss among 17 of us and try to solve the problems. At last our decision was continue hiking and we’re glad that Mr. Chong allowed and support us.
Next morning we woke up at 6am and we check out at 6.30.Then, we went for breakfast in the same hotel again; this was the breakfast that I ate a lot during my trip in China. I want to confirm I’m fully energize before the tedious hiking, the breakfast end in short while because all of us can’t wait to experience the hiking on Wudang Mountain.
Luckily we stock up enough isotonic drink so that I can’t feel any cramp while I’m on my way up to the mountain. We start our hiking at Nan Yan and it’s already half of the whole mountain, we still need to continue the 4km hike to reach the top of ‘Golden Summit’. We started at 9am, when we were on our way hiking there was one of our team mates – Xin Hui feel unwell because of the air is getting thinner and thinner and its really a tedious task for us who not used to do sports. We spent quite a lot of time to rest during the hike; I just keep on drinking isotonic drink and feed myself with chocolate so that I got enough carbohydrate to produce more energy. We took two and a half hour to reach the ‘Golden Summit’. Every one of us feels so happy because we did it on time and even faster than the people who were taking cable car. We can’t stop ourselves from taking photos and more photos because the scenery is just like heaven, the surrounding was blurring and just like we were surrounding by clouds. The only toilet on top of the mountain amaze me again, the cubicles is all filled with “cakes” and I don’t know how all these locals can stand the awful smell and just used the toilet so naturally. We were in emergency so I can’t even think twice, just hold my breath and do my business as fast as I could before I knock out in the toilet.
We spend one and half hours on top of the mountains and we started to queue for the cable car to get down from the mountain because we were not allowed to walk down in the concern of limiting time. I share a cabin with Jin Quan and we have an interesting K session in the cabin. Every cabin which pass through us shock of our loud singing, and I can even wish the cabin to stop so that I can sing non-stop in the high mountain with enclose compartment.
After we get down from the top, it was time for lunch and we have our lunch in a small restaurant in the mountain. Then, we take the 40 minutes ride back down to the usual car park to take our bus back to Wuhan. The journey back took another 6 hours and we were tired like died body, so we slept all the way until we reach WUST. Our dinner we just pack few burgers and eat it in the dorm, and I just exhausted so I slept early that night!!!
